On a separate page I gave a shortened testimony about coming to faith in Jesus Christ. I recently taught a seminar on human sexuality and in that seminar I posed the question, “Who am I?” It’s the purpose of this page.
My identity.
I’m a male, image-bearer of God, subject to a sinful world worshipping my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
My identifiers.
I am Gabe Sylvia. My heritage is Spanish (father) and German (mother). I have a brother (who is a Major General in the Army) and a step-sister (who has the largest record collection I’ve ever seen). I’m a father of five (5), have a son-in-law and a grandson. I’ve been married for over 30 years to the same jewel of a woman. I have played the worlds greatest game, soccer, at almost every level. I am a meat-and-potatoes person with a fork in one hand and a glass of a Belgian quaddrupel in the other.
I went to the United States Military Academy, graduated with a B.S in Political Science and went into the Infantry (after Airborne and Ranger schools). I served 9 years total before the Lord called me into full time ministry. Still, I dabbled in other work along the way: real estate security, Army chaplaincy, manufacturing, street sweeping.
I received my Master of Divinity from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and my Doctor of Ministry from Reformed Theological Seminary in Charlotte.
I currently serve my fourth church, this time as the senior pastor.
